Female Norton's Giant Ichneumon Wasp (Megarhyssa nortoni) - The long stinger-looking apendage is actually used to inject eggs into tree bark on or near the egg of a Horntail Wasp. The Horntail Wasp larva becomes food for the larva of the Norton's Giant Ichneumon Wasp. Forest Road 1706 south of SR 410, Yakima County, WA. July 12, 2023.
